Wow! I can hardly believe this school year is over! I think everyone would agree that this has been a GREAT year! I had 26 very special students this past year, and they will always have a place in my heart. I get so attached to your children, and do seem "lost" without seeing them, or hearing what's going on with them once they leave my class. I know they will all be very successful 4th graders. This has been a smart, caring, and fun group of students. I hope you all have a WONDERFUL summer break!!!
Last "teacher" comment - It would be VERY beneficial for students to work on those 4th grade summer packets I sent home...a little is better than none, so when they start getting bored in a few weeks...pull those out! :)
Have a fun and safe summer!!!
Love,
Mrs. Wright

Field Trip
We had a great field trip today! Our class started the day with bowling, then went to Chick-fil-A for lunch, and finished the day with a visit to Judge Olgetree's Courtroom. It was a great day...well, other than one of the other 3rd grade teachers being arrested! :-) Allen from our class was chosen to be the judge, and he sent her straight to jail! Here are some pictures from our day.

Career Day
On Wednesday, May 11, our school had Career Day. Mrs. Coker, Abby's mom, came and spoke to the class about her job as a Physical Therapist. We REALLY enjoyed her presentation and appreciate her taking time to come share with our class about her job. We also went to Ms. Goza's class and heard about having the job of a prison guard. The students really enjoyed hearing about this job, too! For our finale, we all went out to the soccer field to see a hot air balloonist blow up his balloon, and were able to look up inside it. Unfortunately there were no rides given! ;)
Here are some pictures from Career Day...enjoy!

Thank You!
Thank you so much for all of your help raising money for the storm victims! Our school raised a total of $1018. I am very proud of how giving my class was - we collected $185 in just our class!!! :) Thanks so much.
Reminders:
- This Friday is Field Day, wear your t-shirt if you ordered one. We still need parents/grandparents to help with this. Please let me know if you are available.
- Our Field Trip has been rescheduled for next Wednesday, May 18. Please sign and return the new permission slip TOMORROW. We must have this for your child to attend.
- Awards Day for 3rd Grade will be on May 24 at 10:00 in the gym.
- We will not have to make up the day we missed due to the recent bad weather, so the last day of school for students will still be on May 27! :)

I'm Back!
I am back at school today! I am sending home graded papers today. We didn't have many...with the bad weather, and with me being out, I didn't want to count grades that I wasn't sure about. :) Hopefully this week will be back to normal for us all!
I also sent home another note about our school collecting money to help with the tornado victims. I am adding some incentives for my class! For every $5 your child donates, he/she will get one night free of homework! :) So, $10 would be 2 nights with no homework! This is a great way to show children the importance of helping others during times of need. I have a very sweet class, so I am anxious to see how much we can raise! Our goal is $5 per child.
Thanks for all you do!

Quick Update
I am not sure if your children told you, but I was not at school on Friday. I will also be out again tomorrow. I had some concerns with my pregnancy and ended up at the hospital after the tornados on Wednesday night. Everything ended up being fine, but I just have to go back to Birmingham tomorrow for some tests. The doctor also wanted me to take it easy and get lots of rest over the weekend, so hopefully after tomorrow's appointment all will be back to normal!
Spring Fling will be THIS Thursday, May 5. Armbands may still be purchased until Wednesday. Please remember to send $10 to school in an envelope if you would like for you child to attend. We will still be having the hamburger/hotdog cookout that night, and those meals can be preordered this week. I will also let you know when our Field Trip gets rescheduled as soon as we find out.
We only have about a week and a half left for students to get A.R. Points! PLEASE make sure your children are reading books every night. If a student does not reach their goal for each grading period, he/she will not receive an A.R. t-shirt.
I may be a day late sending papers home, so if your child doesn't bring papers home on Tuesday, just look for them on Wednesday! Thanks for your understanding! :)
