Reseach shows that students who take these tests in their classroom, in their "normal" setting, on the scheduled day, do much better than students who have to make up tests. It is soooooooo important that your child be at school and on time on these scheduled days. We will be sending more information home closer to testing. I just wanted to go ahead and share these dates with you.

News

Recently, students made predictions on whether they thought Baby Wright was going to be a boy or girl. We were able to use what we have learned about fractions to determine what fraction guessed boy, and what fraction guessed girl. As you can see 9/24 predicted girl, and 15/24 predicted boy. Those who guessed boy were correct! It's a BOY! The students seem to really be enjoying my pregnancy, and love to let me know each day if my belly is "sticking out" or "looking rounder"! They are a very sweet and caring bunch of kids, and I love having them in my class!

Valentine Party

Congratulations to Taurus, J.J., Abby, and Harper for winning the Valentine box competition! We had so many wonderful boxes in our class, and had a GREAT party!!! Thank you Melanie for making our party such fun!!! We really appreciate all of your hard work!

Congratulations to Savanna!!! Savanna was chosen as the 3rd grade student of the month! Way to go!!! I am very proud of you!

Weather Make-Up Days

I know so many of you are anxious to find out when we will be making up those 5 student days that were missed due to the snow. Students will now come on scheduled weather days and teacher inservice days.

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone enjoyed our surprise "Winter Break" last week! We are going to be VERY busy these next few months as we prepare for testing - SAT and ARMT. I do my very best to get all of our daily work sent home each day, and need your help as parents with this. :) If you see that your child has missed many problems, or had difficulty with something, PLEASE go over this at home. You may begin to see on some of the work a note that says something like "Rework for HW", please take time to do this. We are beginning to add in extra math, to help make sure students are ready for testing, which will also add in a few extra Math homeworks each week. These MAY NOT be on the weekly HW chart, so please check your child's folder daily to make sure all HW is completed. Thank you in advance for all of your help! You will be very thankful when we have WONDERFUL test scores from our class! :)

Science - Study for Bean Seed Test (Study Guide in folder today)

Math - Math Facts (5 minutes)
Science - Study for test

Thursday
Spelling - Words 3x each in cursive
Reading - Fluency Passage
Math - Math Facts (5 minutes)
Science - Study for test

Spelling, Math Facts, and Science (bean) test will be given on Friday, January 21.

Reminders for this Week

Christmas Lunch for grades 3-5 will be this Thursday, December 9. Reservations and money are due TOMORROW (Tuesday, December 7). No late reservations will be accepted.

Ornaments are due tomorrow, Tuesday, December 7. This will count as a 100 point Social Studies grade. The winner will get 10 bonus points, and that ornament will be on display on the tree in the front foyer.

Our class will go to the Santa Shop on Tuesday and Thursday this week. If you child would like to do some Christmas shopping, please send money to school with them on either of those two days.
