Box Tops Party

Today we had our Box Tops Party! We made ornaments, ate pizza, and got a treat bag! Thanks so much for collecting box tops for our class! We really enjoyed today!

Box Tops Winner

Our class was the winner for November, we collected the most tops in the school! Way to go!!! We will have a pizza and ornament making party on Monday to celebrate! Thank you all so much for saving these to help our school! We couldn't do it without our wonderful parents! Keep collecting, and hopefully we will win again!

We Voted!

Today our class participated in a mock election. Thanks so much for talking with your children about the candidates! Please remember to send in canned goods for our school's food drive! For every five cans your child brings in he/she will get a homework pass! :)

Coin Wars Pizza Party

Winners

3rd Grade won the overall Coin Wars Contest!!! Way to Go 3rd Grade!!! We will have a pizza party on Thursday of this week to celebrate! Thanks so much to all of the parents who sent money to support our school! We raised a total of $1,669.82.

Homecoming Week

Next week is Homecoming week for Gadsden City High School! Go Titans!!! We will participating in this by having dress up days next week, and getting out early on Friday to go watch the parade. It is going to be a FUN week! A note was sent home on Thursday about the activities planned for next week, see below for a reminder. Monday - Mustache Monday Tuesday - Wacky Hair/Crazy Sock Day Wednesday - Nerd Day Thursday - Titan Spirit Day...Wear your Titan gear! We will have a Pep Rally at 2:00 Friday - Early Dismissal at 12:00 - Please be on time to get your child. There will be NO Gym or EDGE!!! I will post pictures each day!

Third Grade won Coin Wars on Thursday!!! Thank you all so much for sending money to help buy books for our classrooms! The students have loved this! Also, thanks so much to Zyler's mom, Mrs. Higgins, for introducing our school to coin wars and working so hard this week for our school! As of Thursday, our school has raised a total of $1,410.09. How AWESOME is that?!?!

Coin Wars

Remember to bring in any extra change this week for Coin Wars! This is a great way for the school to earn money to purchase books to use in all classrooms. Today our school raised a total of $224.38. 2nd grade was the winning class. Please send in change each day this week! Remember - pennies earns points for our grade, and other coins and dollars bombs the other grades to help us win!

American Village

M&M Math Day

On Friday, we were able to do eat during our math lesson. We did an activity called M&M Math, were we compared numbers, added, and graphed all by using a bag of M&Ms! This was an enjoyable day for all!

Welcome Back!

I have FINALLY got my class list for the 2012-2013 school year, and I am so excited! We are going to have so much fun this year and learn LOTS!!! We will have supply drop off this week on Thursday (7am-6pm) and Friday (8am-3pm). If at all possible, please try to go ahead and bring your child's supplies to the school during one of these two times. It really makes the first day much easier when we don't have supplies everywhere. :-) Please let me know if you have any questions. You can reach me by email at jwright@gcs.k12.al.us. Go ahead and mark your calendars...Open House will be on Monday, August 27 at 6:00 pm. We will all meet in the lunchroom, and then dismiss and go to classrooms. World Math Day

Today, Mitchell is participating in World Math Day, which is an online Math competition where students can play against children around the world. Each class has a "Mathlete" that competes for our class for the ENTIRE day! Israel was the top scorer in our class, so he was chosen as our Mathlete. Way to go Israel!!!

Tech Fair

Congratulations to Payton and Jackson! They were chosen to represent our class, and the 3rd grade, at JSU's Tech Fair on Friday, March 2. Thanks for your hard work guys!

January Student of the Month

The Student of the Month for January came from our class! Congratulations Claire!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had our class Valentine's Party on Friday, and thanks to our wonderful room mother Wendy Burns, it was GREAT! We ate yummy food and played BINGO! Here are some pictures of the boxes the students made. They were all so cute and very creative. The girl winner was Claire, who created a box full of candy. Jackson was the boy box winner, whose box was Castle Burns.

iPad Time

Congratulations to Payton! He was the first student in my class to finish Math Facts testing! That means he has no math facts homework nightly, and today while the other students took their test, Payton was given iPad time. We are excited to have an iPad in each classroom, and I am looking forward to using it with all my students!

Updates

So sorry that I have gotten a little behind with our class blog. I will try to do better! Thank you all so much for all your hard work raising money for Pennies for Patients. Our school raised over $3000, and our class raised a total of $188.37! I am so proud of you all! We are currently having a fundraiser by selling cookie dough. Orders and money are due next Tuesday, January 7. Remember the top seller in my class will get ONE WEEK with NO HOMEWORK!!! How awesome is that?!?! Mr. Waits plans to use this money to purchase more iPods and iPads for our school, and do a few more updates to the school's playground. Thanks for all your help!

Spelling Bee

Matthew, Chloe and Jackson were chosen to represent our class in the school's Spelling Bee. They all three did a great job!
